Woodbury
Vineyards is located in western New York's Chautauqua County,
the third largest grape-growing region in America. The Woodbury
family started tilling the soil near the Village of Fredonia in 1910.
The winery was established in 1979. Today, Woodbury Vineyards
wines are regularly recognized for outstanding quality, having earned
an impressive number of awards and medals in national and international
competitions, including best Northern Hemisphere Chardonnay. Personalized
and custom labels are an added bonus.
Woodbury Vineyards is nestled in the shadow of the escarpment separating
the Lake Erie plain from the forested foothills of the Allegheny
Mountains. The rich porous soil of the glacial ridges allows the
vine roots to penetrate 20-30 feet. Large and shallow, Lake Erie
cools the adjacent area in the summer and warms it in the winter,
thus moderating temperature extremes. This unique soil and climate
combination yields grapes with significant aromas, an outstanding
sugar/acid balance and full maturity.
The Company is unique in its "Consumer-Owned, Consumer-Loved"
focus. Woodbury Vineyards benefits in many ways from its unique
and broad shareholder base, numbering over 1,000 individuals. Many
of these shareholders provide continuing insight regarding the wine
marketplace and attend and assist at many wine events sponsored
by the Company.
The winery is situated in Fredonia, New York, just five minutes
from I-90 (New York Thruway), and is open daily for tours, tastings
and sales. For address, directions, hours of operation and telephone
number, see our Tasting Rooms.
