Nestled in western New York's Chautauqua County, in the shadow of the escarpment separating the Lake Erie plain from the forested foothills of the Allegheny Mountains, Woodbury Vineyards' rich, porous soil allows the grapevine's roots to penetrate 20-30 feet. Large and shallow, Lake Erie cools the Vineyards' adjacent area in the summer and warms it in the winter, thereby moderating temperature extremes. This unique soil and climate combination yields grapes with significant aromas, an outstanding sugar/acid balance and full maturity.
